What happens when I book a holiday apartment or a guest room?
The rental at Toftegården takes place privately. When you rent from us, we make sure that you receive a written confirmation and agreement with the Rental Terms / Policies on your booking by mail. Then you have 3 days to contact us if there is anything to be corrected or you want to cancel your order. You will be informed of important changes regarding your reservation. You have access to the apartment / guest room from 2 pm on the day of arrival, to 11 am on the day of departure, unless otherwise agreed. We are not responsible for activities outside the property’s grounds. If you are not satisfied with your holiday apartment or your guest room, then contact the landlord so we can find a solution to it. Read more about this below.
Self-service, what does that mean?
Toftegårdens concept is entirely based on self-service. Read more about this under “Accommodation” and “Lejebetingelser / Policies” in the main menu.
Is breakfast included?
Traditional Danish breakfast can be ordered. Breakfast is served in our cozy conference/party room “Stalden” every morning between 08.00-10.00.
You can also make your own breakfast as all our appartments and rooms have kitchen. If you want eat breakfast out, you can do that in one of the many bakeries in the city.
Toftegården’s concept is based on self-service and check-in can be done between 14.00 – 24.00, unless otherwise agreed. The key to your holiday apartment / guest room is picked up in the key box at the entrance door at OFFICE in building B. You will find the code for the key box in the specification on the first page of the contract sent to your email (see “The code for the key box (by OFFICE”). An SMS sent with the code is also sent to your mobile phone. Check-out is no later than 11.00 on the day of departure, remember to return the key in the key box behind the OFFICE door. The final cleaning on departure is included in the price but we expect you to wash up after you and make a normal clean-up before departure. Please also as place used linens and towels on the floor.
There is free parking on and around the courtyard. You can grill inside the courtyard. Free wireless internet, the code can be found on the information board in your holiday apartment / guest room. Bicycle parking and sun terrace are located in the courtyard. Cots and chairs are freely available. If you want a party or a meeting, you can rent our party room “The Stable”. Contact the landlord for more information.
Use of garden / outdoor furniture?
In the courtyard you can freely use our garden and outdoor furniture. Please remember to put cushions / underlays in the gray boxes after use.
Smoking, pets and furniture / mattresses / bedding?
Smoking and pets are not allowed inside the apartments or guest rooms, as many of our guests are allergic. You can smoke freely in the courtyard, but please show consideration for our other guests. It is also not allowed to take furniture / matresses or bedding out in the courtyard or to the beach etc..
Rules for using the gym?
When you rent from us you get free access to our fitness center. Please remember, max 2-3 persons in the room at any one time and minimum age is 18 years for use of the center. The key to the fitness center is provided along with the key to your holiday apartment / guest room.
Is Toftegården far from the city and the beach?
The farm is located in the middle of the city, close to the beach and only 7-10 minutes walking distance to the city center, the railway station, the pedestrian street Sct. Laurentiivej and the harbor.
Where to park your car or bike?
You can park your car for free on or around the farm. You can park your bike in a locked outhouse on the inner courtyard.
How do I find Toftegården?
Look at our website under the “Find us” menu item (“Contact” > “Find Us”).
Where to buy food?
At the railway station / city center there are several large shops such as rugsen, Netto, Aldi, Lidl etc..
When is my booking binding?
Both you and the landlord are bound to the lease as soon as you have approved your booking. If you have made your booking yourself on Toftegården’s website, you will receive a rental contract and all information per e-mail and SMS text message a few minutes after you have approved your booking. If you have made your booking with Booking.com or Airbnb, you will receive a confirmation of your booking from them, and then Toftgården sends a rental agreement and information about the self-service and check-in per e-mail and SMS text message to the email address and phone number you have provided to Booking.com or Airbnb.
What if I want to cancel my reservation?
If you have made your booking directly with Toftegåarden Guest House, you can read about our cancellation policy in the rental agreement you have received. If you have made your booking with Booking.com or Airbnb, you can read their cancellation policy on their website.
When do I pay for my booking?
If you have made your booking directly via Toftegården Guest House you pay in cash on arrival at the farm, unless otherwise agreed. Please note because of our self-service arrangement, we have no payment card terminal at Toftegården and you must therefore settle in cash to the staff upon arrival. Cash can be withdrawn ATMs in the city. If you have booked through Booking.com or Airbnb, they are the ones who handle the payment and you pay directly to them.
Where can I eat dinner?
There are many restaurants within walking distance of Toftegården, we are happy to recommend and help with reservations if needed.
Does Toftegården have an environmental policy?
At Toftegården we are always working to improve the environment, amongst other things we:
• We get all our energy from Naturenergi (100% nature driven energy).
• We sort all waste e.g bottles, cans, paper, food into special/divided containers.
• We change all bedlinnens, towels when a stay extends more than 3 nights (i.e not every night).
• We only clean at departure (our guests clean themselves during the stay).
• We only use environmentally friendly cleaning products and materials.
• We have an arrangement with a laundry service that use environmentally friendly cleaning products and materials.
With this environmentally friendly approach, we make a difference for the environment and on top of that, it also makes the stay cheaper for our guests.
What are my rights?
If the landlord does not hand over the holiday apartment or guest room in the promised condition or at the right time, you have the right to cancel the rental. Instead of cancelling the lease, you can request the landlord to reduce the rent. If you have complaints, contact the landlord as soon as possible, however, no later than 3 days after arrival. Errors that occur during the stay must be reported directly to the landlord so that the landlord gets a chance to solve it. If you are prevented from coming, you have the right to let another person enter in your place. The landlord must accept the person if the landlord does not have a specific reason to refuse. You must notify the landlord as soon as possible.
What obligations do I have as a tenant?
You should take good care of the holiday apartments and guest rooms and follow the rules, instructions and regulations that exist. You are responsible for any damage you cause to the property. You may not use the holiday apartment or guest room other than what was agreed upon at the time of booking, and you must not allow anyone to stay in the apartment or guest room other than as indicated on your booking. Extra beds can be arranged for a fee. If so, contact the landlord. We expect there to be silence in the yard after. 23:00 for the sake of the other guests and our neighbours.
What happens if we do not agree?
Contact the landlord directly with any complaints. Remember that your chances of obtaining compensation may fall if you delay the complaint. If the landlord and you do not agree, you can contact the Consumer Complaints Board.
Can I rent bicycles at Toftegården?
We do not have bikes for rent/hire but can be rented around the city (at the railway station or down by the harbor).
